  Introduction

Southampton mapInformation on arts attendance calculated from the data collected from organisations located in and around the Southampton ‘hub’.

This analyses behaviour of arts attenders living within the SO14 – SO19 central Southampton postal districts and making transactions at any of the 20 participating organisations.

You may now view 2 years' information for the 'hub'. The first year dates from 1st October 2001 to 30th September 2002, and the second year from 1st October 2002 to 30th September 2003.

Customer address data was collected along with each booking transaction, to measure attendance in terms of a) the number of bookers, b) the number of bookings made, c) the number of tickets purchased, and d) the total spend.

Unique reference numbers for each booker and household make the data anonymous and measures the levels of cross-over between artforms and even venues (participating organisations can choose to use this information collaboratively).

Section 1
* Total numbers of bookers and the consequent statistics pertaining to the bookings they made
* Data broken down and presented by artform. [Categorisation is based on that of the Target Group Index (TGI) for ease of comparison.]

Section 2
* Potential number of arts attenders by artform for the Southampton hub, as estimated by the TGI. This data indicates the number of potential art attenders to the listed artforms over a 3 year period. N.B. TGI figures for “Rock, Pop & Folk” are not given.

MOSAIC profiles, TGI Comparison and Artform Crossover information for the Southampton hub may be accessed via the navigation menu on the left.

These postal districts contain 95,955 households and a combined adult population of 175,414.
